The 3rd Rip Curl Lennox Longboard “One Dayer” 2024 Scheduled for Saturday 23rd March. INFO

2024 Rip Curl Lennox Longboard ‘One Dayer’ 2024 – Media Release 2

Entries for this year’s Rip Curl Lennox Longboard ‘One Dayer’,  being held on Saturday March 23rd, are progressing well  but spots are still available in most divisions. The pattern of the Over 60’s Division always being the first to get entries continues with it just over half full as is traditional for these veteran surfers, always the first with their entry forms, a frothing older crew.

This year a Mystery Final has been added where 6 surfers eliminated in the first round get another chance to get their names on the board.  Along with Open 9ft with 18 spots (for any ages), Over 40’s with 12 spots, Over 60’s with 18 spots, Ladies Open (for all ages), we have added a Ladies Over 40’s division with 12 spots available.  All the first rounds of heats will be 20 minutes and finals 30 minutes.

Dan McCabe from Lennox Gelato and Coffee is again entering  ‘Team Gelato’ with surfers in a few divisions, guys like Sput Keevers in the Over 60’s, Gaz Donovan, Nathan Keevers, Ben McCabe and Dan himself in the Over 40’s and hoperfully Jack Entwhistle in the Open 9ft.

The ladies divisions, the Open and Over 40’s are a little slow with plenty of spots and we’re expecting ladies such as Wendy stephenson from Burleigh, Eleanor McCredie, Anna McCabe  and Mia Francis from Lennox to be in the Open division mix. The Over 40’s Ladies will see surfers such as Fiona Duncan, Cori Hardy, Eleanor Robertson, Adelle Purbrick, Peta Grew and Veronica Silver competing for placings in the final.

Again a huge shout out to all our sponsors for their support again with an estimated sponsorship value of around $18,000.00. This coverid financial support, products from a range of sponsors with the main one being Rip Curl Ballina, plus vouchers from retail outlets then the trophies and signage from LJ Signs. Thank you all so much.

The Cancer Council of NSW will be the major beneficiary from our raffle with first prize a brand new 9’ Astro Surfboard, hand shaped by the great Gary Burden with two other major prizes.

Tickets will be available on Saturday March 16th at Lennox Gelato and Coffee and all day at the event.  The comp presentation and raffle draw will be held at the Lennox Hotel at around 4.00pm after the “One Dayer” wraps up across the road at Lennox Main Beach.
