Wrap – up the 3rd Rip Curl Lennox Longboard One Dayer 2024, Held on Saturday 23rd March 2024 at Lennox Main Beach.
Preceding the event held on Saturday 23rd March. There was a sizable swell & weather event hitting Lennox main beach
But Saturday brought us a drop in swell with morning offshore wind, we were relieved. So the decision was made to run the event.
A few little passing showers early morning, then the rain held off. It was very surfable, best it has been for weeks, some difficult conditions post lunch with the dropping tide.Competitors were arriving & the 3rd One Dayer was underway.
This year we added a Ladies Over 40’s division & added a Mystery Final. So 5 divisions were contested.All our divisions were practically full. Standout Longboard surfing was from Jack Entwhistle from Byron Bay Repeating his win in the Open 9ft this year & in 2023 & So to Dave Witt from Burleigh in the Over 40’s doubled up again in 2024 winning the same division in 2023. And in the Ladies events , the Ladies Open won by Emma Perrier as well as the best Noserider Award. And in the ladies Over 40’s Local Jemma Osmond taking out number one.
New facilities opened the previous day on the Beachfront at Lennox were well received, adding to the comfort for spectators & competitors over the day. And with The Lennox Surf lifesaving crew on hand for water safety, the morning was set for some awesome longboarding with the early morning high tide.
There was again great sponsorship from Rip Curl , (the event’s major sponsor). The other Sponsorship was greatly appreciated & well received by all surfing in the event. Ist Prize, The Longboard from Gary Burden (Astro) went to Kate Ashdown of Lennox. 2nd Prize, 2 nights accommodation for 2 @ The Lennox Beach resort , to Dan Perrier, Evans Head. 3rd Prize, products package from Rip Curl Ballina to Tony Abood of Tweed.

There was a really good vibe amongst the crew in the comp which promoted the laid back relaxed feel of the event.
