Unfortunately, last weekend the 18th Lennox Classic was called off on Friday evening at 5.30pm, with the water safety personnel, the Lennox SLSC, reluctantly having to retract their services for the weekend, due to the unrelenting shark menace we have here on our local beaches. The major number of our competitors, and there were over 100, met at Lennox Main on Saturday morning for a BBQ and comp prize giveaways.

Two longboards from Global Surf Industries were drawn and a $1000 holiday voucher from Bintang our Major Sponsor drawn. The raffle board from local shaper Phil Myers and the accommodation package at Lennox Beach Resort were held over and will continue till the Clubs Xmas party & drawn then to continue to raise money for the receiving charities.

Winners of the two Competitor Boards from GSI were Stephen Fosterling from Lennox & Denis Lowe from Burleigh. And The lucky winner of the travel voucher from Bintang was Jye Whyatt from Byron Bay.

Like to thank all our sponsors for 2015, Especially our major ones, Bintang (Our major Sponsor), Mainmark Ground Engineering (new to the event), Lennox Hotel, Lennox Coffee & Gelato Co, Lennox Mobile Plumbing, Lennox Surf, Stomp Surf Wax, Global Surf Industries, Tony Barnett, Dirty Dog Eyewear, Inner Beauty Lennox Head and all who come on board.

The event was cancelled due to this loss of the Water safety perspective, and it was a good call by the club considering the circumstances. Thanks goes to the local Lennox surf lifesaving club for their support of the event and for thinking of the safety aspect of all competitors. Their efforts over the last few trying weeks with water safety has been outstanding to all in the local surfing community.

Thanks goes to all those who have supported the event an came on board to compete in the two-days of longboarding – and hopefully will continue to support this annual event at Lennox in the future (with no shark threats).

Monies from this event will be forwarded to organisations such as The Cancer Council NSW, Surfing for disabled Association, Local Rescue Helicopter & The local Surf lifesaving Club as in the past.
